Blaine Eye Clinic has some exciting news! In the past we have offered the service of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to our patients on a quarterly basis. But now we can offer this service at any time as we have purchased a brand new OCT instrument, the RTVue Optovue. RTVue is an ultra-high speed, high resolution OCT retina scanner used for retina imaging and analysis. It is based on the next generation Fourier-Domain Optical Coherence technology just emerging from clinical research in the last two years. The ultra-high speed and high resolution features enable the FD-OCT to visualize the retinal tissue with ultra-high clarity in a fraction of seconds.
Basically, the OCT scans allow us to more accurately diagnose and monitor conditions that affect the retina and optic nerve, such as: glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy and a host of other eye diseases. With the addition of this technology, we have the capability to diagnose certain eye diseases much earlier than with current methods.
We are constantly striving to provide our patients with the most convenient care using the most up to date technology. We are proud to add OCT technology to our arsenal of diagnostic tools.
